OUR TEAM

Adina Farms is family run enterprise; however, it does hire some local youth to help during hay season and aid in caring for the livestock.

About Us

How Adina Farms got started...

Adina Farms was established in 1997 by Adam and Tina Costarella.  Adam completed medical school in 1986, and Tina finished veterinary school in 1999.  After finishing their education, the newlyweds proceeded to search for somewhere to settle down, and happened upon the Rose's farm in eastern Ohio.

Since purchasing the Rose's property, they have invested in other local farms, expanding their land and cattle business.  Today Adina farms has a square mile in grazing pastures, wooded hills, and hay fields.  The perfect spot for raising Murray Grey Cattle naturally.

Murray Greys

Genetics

Murray Grey cattle originated in Southern Australia, where it was discovered that a roan cow bred to an Angus bull occasionally dropped silver calves.  These accidental calves were to be the founders of the Murray Grey breed.  Murray Grey cattle are known for their small birth weights, sweet dispositions, and ability to thrive in varying conditions (making them perfect candidates to grass finish).  The color of Murray Grey cattle is generally a light silver; however, breeding for darker Murray Greys has become popular.

Adina Farms runs a selective breeding program that incorporates artificial insemination(with top American and Australian sires) and embryo transfers.  Additionally, Adina Farms only retains the best bull calves for natural service breeding.  Our genetic selections focus on moderate frame scores, small birth weights, efficiency on grass, and balanced body structure.  We only sell animals which meet our standards and therefore are sure to do well for producers who opt to purchase our cattle.
